After about 5 years of experimentation this concrete series emerged. Concrete is often associated with architecture and can symbolize strength. THE space within
‘The Space Within’ is a response to our isolation and the challenges resulting from the Covid pandemic as well as our longing for connection and intimacy. The series reflect on the space within our minds and thoughts as well as the space within the relationships some of us long for.

As tensions in the US peaked in late 2020 and the Covid pandemic soared, I drew inspiration from these events unfolding. Representational work seemed unequipped to express my state of mind so I give way to impulsion and this abstract series were born.
