Welcome to my first newsletter of 2008!

New Photography

Since my return from Las Vegas, I have been focused on bringing to life a wave of new ideas. During the last few years I have really longed to expand my photography skills and since I had a little time before starting on my New York ArtExpo exhibit, I saw this as the ideal opportunity. Besides a brief Nikon course I recently attended in Chicago, as well as working with another local photographer, Susanna Tanner whom I greatly admire, I decided to do lots of practice while attempting to bring my concepts to life.

Antoine goes Blogging

Finally. However, if I knew this was so much fun I probably would have started earlier. When I started writing my blog in December, I noticed that I have been on blogger since June 2004 – so that is when I intended to start blogging… frightening! Nevertheless, I plan to blog at least once a week and would love some feedback, please!!

New Video

A while ago I made a small video of the creation of ‘Andrew’ and for the fun of it posted it on youtube. I was overwhelmed with the reaction (and the 16,374 views of course!) This as well as the requests I got inspired me to do another so here I share one of my newest pieces, ‘Intimité’

The song is ‘Loving Man’ by one of my favorite bands, Ark (and I am not just saying that since my husband is the bassist!) It was written by Jürgen von Wechmar.

New Work

Serenity IV

I have talked about this in my blog, but wanted to share this here as well since this is such a special piece.

The story behind:
One evening (about five years ago) TJ and I tested a new camera. We didn’t plan anything but just did what came natural. Some months later I was working on an exhibit on the theme of love to be held at Arndean Gallery in London together with LondonArt. While doing some planning my eye caught something in one of the almost black images we took that one night. When I highlighted the photograph I discovered an amazing image of our legs and loved it. Not because it was a great shot but because it was so typically “us” (This was the way we sleep just about every night) and because it really tells a story. I thought that it had such a serene sense of unity. Needless to say it became the inspiration for the first ‘Serenity’, which later inspired Serenity II & III that was completed in 2005. At first I thought that would be the end of the series. However recently I had this overwhelming feeling that I should do another piece with a new approach.

Ray of Light

Another brand new piece. This piece was inspired by it’s model, Ray –a wonderful model from Washington DC. I have felt a close connection with dawn and dusk ever since I can remember. Here I imagined Ray becoming one with the earth, the sun and the day ahead.
