As the first snow of the season lies fresh on the ground, I turn
inside to where so many ideas are nagging to be borne at once. I
am looking forward to this winter. Looking forward to nights in
front of the fireplace, good bottles of red wine and lots of sushi.
But more than anything else, I am looking forward to the time I
will be spending inside my studio working on the 40 white canvasses
that arrived yesterday.
What's been happening regarding Antoine's Art?
The most recent events that took place is the yearly Whitewater
Gallery and Richmond Art Museum's juried exhibitions. Juror Rachel
Berenson Perry, Fine Arts Curator, Indiana State Museum selected
two of my works 'Genesis' and 'The Voyage Commences' for the Art
Museum's exhibition while juror Patterson Sims, director of the
Montclair Art Museum selected a photography piece 'Andy's Galvanization'
for the Whitewater Gallery's show. I toke this photograph in the
Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh during a recent visit there.
Phew! Now that I'm done with the formalities,
I can talk about the more interesting things. In my March Newsletter
I talked about the tour we were about to undertake, August I promised
the pictures and now I have finally came so far as to do a photo
diary. I do not want to bore you with hundreds of family pictures
but I did select a few of my favorites to share. Though it feels
like a lifetime since I lived there, this is a glimpse of the country
I grew up in: See
our photographs The highlight
for me, probably Helen

My ideas for my website right now is coming faster that I would
ever be able to put in HTML. But gradually I hope to make this a
better and even more interesting space. What I did learn just recently
is how to implement a new drop down menu. I am aware that everything
is not 100% smooth yet, but I do hope this make navigation a little
easier. In the planning is a video section of my studio, and an
informal bio. Anything else you would like to see?
I think as a last thought I would like to share the experience of

What
I listened to while working on this painting |
I could probably write a book about this piece, but I'll just give
you the essence. The painting is a captured moment in time that happened
exactly three years ago when my live took flight. I met the man of
my dreams but due to circumstances our relationship was always long
distance -mostly across continents. We were only in the same geographical
location for less than 5 weeks when we could not bare to be apart
any longer. The only way we could finally be together was to get married.
The moment toke place as I was waiting for him on another hemisphere
to join me for a wedding on an African beach.

The
words on the painting:
Time can be our only anchor sometimes. To see it passing by, it becomes
our brightest hope for the future. The singular entity that brings
us closer to a state of purpose, meaning, want and need. It transforms
into a vehicle, a mode of transport. It is a vector with direction
and magnitude. A perfectly straight arrow pointing precisely to where
we're going and where we want to be. It becomes a very trusty friend.
Time provides a magnificent medium in which to be. Whatever we want,
now or mayhaps later and no matter where and what we are, moreover,
when we are.
Not long anymore, my Queen. The scapes are drawing ever near and you
will want to practice and get your wings in shape, for the day is
dawning whence we must rise up and commence our flight together. As
the earth is tilting its northern face away from the sun, the cold
of winter is shrouding me in its cloak, soon ice and snow will be
my only friends, where you are being dressed by the same beautiful
sun. I shall join you in one lunar cycle and shed the cold cloak swiftly
to be embraced, not only by Ra, but by you, my one and only soul companion.
For that day, I am most eagerly in waiting. I am coming, by all the
gods in Valhalla, I am coming.
